What is duplication? "Duplication" refers to the process of burning a CD (CD-ROM). You've probably seen a CD burner hooked up to a computer before. Data is put onto a burned disc with a laser, whereas "pressed" (replicated) discs have their data stamped onto them with a stamper made from a glass master. Because duplication can be done in smaller quantities, this is sometimes a more economical choice.

CD capacities are always given in binary units. A "700 MB" (or "80 minute") CD has a nominal capacity of about 700 MB. In addition, CDs can come in business card shape (40 MB) and small 3 inch (180 MB) versions.  (For a full brochure on shape discs, click HERE)
